Crucial Films is proud to be collaborating with Warner Brothers and director Allen Hughes on the eagerly anticipated film "What's Going On?,” a biopic of the iconic soul singer Marvin Gaye. Crucial worked with several others in the entertainment industry to acquire the script by poet-playwright Marcus Gardley (The Color Purple musical). The late Marvin Gaye’s estate and Motown have approved the production ensuring that fans may expect many of his signature songs in the upcoming soundtrack.

CRUCIAL FILMS’ THE DEFIANT ONES Nominated for 5 EMMYS!
Crucial Films in association with HBO® released a four-part documentary series “The Defiant Ones,” that tells the stories of Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young, “Dr. Dre” — one the son of a Brooklyn longshoreman, the other straight out of Compton — their improbable partnership and surprising leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture. To date, the series has been nominated for 5 Emmy Awards and continues to be offered on the streaming platform.
